LAURA MARKOWITZ
Laura Markowitz got her Bachelors in Music from Indiana University, studying there with Paul Biss and Peter Marsh and did graduate studies at Akron University with Larry Shapiro. She has been a member of the Santiago Philharmonic (Chile), the Florida Orchestra (Tampa) and the Ohio Chamber Orchestra.
Currently. Laura is a member of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and plays in the Burlington Chamber Orchestra and the Green Mountain Opera as well. Laura plays in various chamber music concerts, most recently with the group Reed, Rosin and Pedal. This year she played in the Opus 28 Concert, a yearly festival featuring outstanding student compositions.
Laura loves irish and swedish music as well, and plays in the band Symphony Reel touring Vermont Schools throughout the year. She lives in Jericho with her partner cellist John Dunlop where they enjoy gardening and hiking in the beautiful Green Mountains.
